21st Century Children - My personal experiences over the past 11 years have been the basis for my founding and shaping the vision for 21st Century Children.

I always wished that my children would be exciting, dynamic and, most of all, not boring.  My wish came true!

At first, I did not know how to go about helping my children in a way that could or would empower them to successfully integrate into their school and simultaneously keep intact their creativity and individualism.  I felt strongly that there must be other ways to help them than the advice I had received, which did not feel right to me.

After finding schools at which teachers were willing to acknowledge the many approaches to helping a child, and who supported me when I implemented specific treatments, both my children began developing and are now integrating successfully in their environments.  Neither requires special attention nor has special needs.   However, I now understand the prior schools’ frustration as I tried to find answers that were neither widely known nor accepted.

That is why I started 21st Century Children.  I want to help other families and schools learn about the programs that worked for my children, as well as the full range of other options that are available.  Armed with this knowledge, each family can decide what they think will work best.

It is my hope that one day teachers and parents will form a powerful team for each other and the child.  It was a wonderful experience to find people -- in school and outside of school -- who worked with me and supported me in what I felt was best for my sons.  These people made a major difference in my children’s lives.   They also made a difference in my life and my husband’s life.  They were the champions who made it a reality for my children to live without labels, overcome their challenges, and integrate with success into their schools.

Because of all these efforts, others have been able to know my children as who they are, not as who someone else thought they were.

I also realize that traditional approaches have been a good answer for many families.  21st Century Children seeks to provide people with information on as many viable options as possible - to help parents, teachers and their children gain access to approaches that they did not know of before, thereby supporting them to make what they feel are the best decisions for their families.
